Checking the engine oil level

Condition

The engine is at operating temperature.

Preparatory work

• Stand the motorcycle upright on a horizontal surface.

Main work

• Check the engine oil level.

After switching off the engine, wait one minute before checking the level.

The engine oil must be between the A and B markings .

When the engine oil level is below the A marking:

• Add the engine oil.

When the engine oil level is above the B marking:

• Correct the engine oil level.

Changing the engine oil and oil filter, cleaning the oil screens

Warning

Danger of scalding Engine and gear oil get very hot when the motorcycle is ridden.

• Wear suitable protective clothing and safety gloves.
• In the event of scalding, rinse the area affected immediately with lukewarm water.

Note

Environmental hazard Hazardous substances cause environmental damage.

• Dispose of oils, grease, filters, fuel, cleaning agents, brake fluid, etc., correctly and in compliance with the applicable regulations.

Drain the engine oil while the engine is at operating temperature.

Preparatory work

• Stand the motorcycle on its side stand on a horizontal surface.

Main work

• Place a suitable container under the engine.
• Remove oil drain plug 1 with the O-ring.
• Remove oil screen 2 with the O-ring.
• Remove screw plug 3 with oil screen 4.
• Completely drain the engine oil.
• Thoroughly clean the oil drain plugs and oil screens.
• Position oil screen 2 and mount and tighten oil drain plug 1 with the O-ring.

• Mount and tighten screw plug 3 with oil screen 4 and the O-ring.

Guideline

• Remove screws 5. Take off oil filter cover 6 with the O-ring.
• Pull oil filter 7 out of the oil filter housing.
• Completely drain the engine oil.
• Thoroughly clean the parts and sealing surface.

• Insert new oil filter 7.
• Oil the O-ring of the oil filter cover. Mount oil filter cover 6.
• Mount and tighten the screws.

Too little engine oil or poor-quality engine oil will result in premature wear of the engine.

• Remove filler plug 8 from the clutch cover together with the O-ring, and fill up with engine oil.

• Mount and tighten the filler plug together with the O-ring.

Danger of poisoning Exhaust gases are toxic and inhaling them may result in unconsciousness and death.

• Always make sure there is sufficient ventilation when running the engine.
• Use an effective exhaust extraction system when starting or running the engine in an enclosed space.

 

• Start the engine and check that it is oil-tight.

Finishing work

• Check the engine oil level.

Adding engine oil

Info

Too little engine oil or poor-quality engine oil results in premature wear to the engine.

Main work

• Remove the oil filler plug 1 with the O-ring from the clutch cover and fill up with engine oil.

Engine oil (SAE 15W/50)

Info

In order to achieve optimal engine performance, it is not advisable to mix different engine oils.

We recommended changing the engine oil when necessary.

• Install and tighten the oil filler plug with the O-ring.
